Celtic are apparently ‘following the situation’ of Daniel Podence who is out of favour at Wolves.
That claim comes in a tweet from Tom Collomose who covers the Midlands for the Daily Mail. With 20,000 Twitter followers he isn’t among the big hitters on the transfer scene.
Since selling Jota it has been assumed that Celtic are in the market for a winger, predominantly left sided with Ryan Fraser being mentioned on Monday.
Turning 28 and costing in excess of £10m it is hard to see how Celtic would justify a move for Podence who would no doubt be expecting EPL wages which would almost certainly make him Celtic’s top earner.
There really isn’t much to make the story stand up inside the Celtic business model other than the prospect of a loan deal late in the window as Wolves look to cut costs.
If anyone thinks Celtic are spending £12M on one player then I’ve got some magic beans for sale that they may be interested in

Last week Julen Lopetegui quit as manager of Wolves due to the financial constraints imposed by complying with new Sustainability Rules.
Wolves paid Olympiacos £17m for Podence three years ago when they took on a real Portuguese influence but gradually those players, like Nuno Sanchez as manager has moved on.
With a year left on his contract the next 16 days are the last chance for Wolves to recoup something on that transfer fee which would go towards balancing the books.
Gary O’Neil came in as Wolves manager last week on the strict understanding that he would be managing the squad with minimal scope to work in the transfer market.
It looks like a long shot Celtic will come waving a cheque, like Fraser this story looks to have been initiated by the players current club looking to remove an expensive wage.
