Must do better? Celtic and the Algarve interviews

Celtic’s Social Media team certainly know how to engage with their audience as activity and interactions on Twitter demonstrates.

Sadly the same can’t be said for the video content coming out of Portugal where the club’s in-house team has the field to themselves.

There are no other media commitments on the players but you really have to wonder what the point was in Tuesday’s interviews with Daniel Kelly and Carl Starfelt.

Videos lasting 50 seconds with a 10 second introduction really should be good but speaking at the side of the pitch there was virtually nothing of interest to he learned for watching supporters.

Surely Kelly could be asked about training alongside Callum McGregor, when the skipper made his Celtic debut Kelly was at primary school, now he is working on the training ground with someone integral to winning five trebles.

Starfelt finished last season as the dominant force in the Celtic defence, a year ago he missed the entire pre-season through injury but now has the opportunity to emerge as a senior figure at the club.

Perhaps Wednesday’s interviews might throw up some worthwhile content before the 5pm guessing game of trying to find out what is going on in the friendly against Portimonense.

UPDATE: The Wednesday morning training ground clip could have been from any day of the week with nothing of note shown.
