Has Rodgers already cut two expensive signings adrift?

From the images coming out of Celtic’s training camp in Portugal it seems that Ismaila Soro and Albian Ajeti have been left behind.

After being out on loan last season there appears to be little interest in either player as they enter the final year of their Celtic contracts.

Not much in the way of information has emerged from the Algarve but Ben Summers, Rocco Vata, Daniel Kelly, Bruno Davidson, Bosun Lawal, Josh Dede and Tobi Oluwayemi have all been spotted working out in the sunshine.

Celtic did come to an agreement with Vasilas Barkas to terminate his contract but that came on the back of a successful loan spell at Utrecht which has opened up options for the ‘keeper.

Ajeti was signed at the same stage as Barkas in 2020 but made little impression last season on loan at Sturm Graz (scoring three goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances) which probably did more harm than good for the reputation of the former Basel striker.

Soro was once tipped as a successor to Scott Brown but that notion quickly passed over. On loan at Arouca of Portugal last season he started 22 matches, scoring no goals while picking up seven yellow cards.

Former Sheffield Wednesday duo Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide also appear to have been left behind at Lennoxtown. James McCarthy also appears missing from the Algarve pictures.

Liam Scales and Mikey Johnston were out on loan last season and are both in Portugal hoping to impress the new manager.
