Croatian journalist kills off Livakovic to Fenerbahce claims

Dominik Livakovic is not in Turkey about to sign for Fenerbahce.

Over the last few weeks some Celtic fans have speculated that the Croatian international keeper would be an affordable upgrade on Joe Hart.

With a year left on his contract at Croatia Zagreb it seems inevitable that Livakovic will be sold this summer with Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports firming up that claim on Friday afternoon.

Pretty soon strong claims emerged that Fenerbahce were close to signing the Croatian keeper with Italian transfer expert Nicolo Schira even putting it out that it would be a four year deal from the Turkish side.

There is always a frenzy of transfer speculation involving the clubs in Istanbul but Croatian reporter Izak Ante Sucic seems a little better placed and closer to the action.

Brendan Rodgers has stated that he has full confidence in Joe Hart but that doesn’t rule out interest in bringing in another goalkeeper.

Ben Siegrist and Scott Bain have barely offered the former England keeper competition for his place, since joining Celtic Hart has played in 72 out of 75 SPFL matches.

However at the age of 36 and in the final year of his contract Celtic must be looking at other goalkeeping options, most likely a new first choice with Hart pushing all the way as back-up in the final year of his contract.
