Celtic make new signings promise to fans

Celtic are promising fans on their email database first news from Brendan Rodgers’ signings.

So far Odin Thiago Holm and Marco Tilio have been signed but at combined fees of under £4m neither player is expected to go straight into the first team. A year ago Sead Haksabanovic and Alexandro Bernabei were both signed at £3.5m but were only ever used as back up.

After being signed in loan the club announced the £6.5m deals for Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota last summer with those announcements going down a treat- spreading far and wide on social media.

This morning the club website posted:

NEW SIGNINGS

With new manager Brendan Rodgers back in the Paradise hot seat and already casting the net to add to, and strengthen, the Treble-winning pool, be amongst the first to hear from his new signings as they arrive throughout the transfer window by signing up to receive official emails from Celtic FC.

UPDATES FROM JAPAN

As well as exclusives from the latest arrivals at Celtic Park, you’ll also receive regular round-ups of the Bhoys’ first pre-season under the new manager, including their tour of Japan.

Email is actually fairly dated with most folk turning to social media for news, a development that Celtic are well aware of.

The days of simply announcing a signing are long gone, a social media video clip is the least that fans expect with even lower division clubs able to apply some marketing tricks to make the most of signing news.

It is very rare for signings to be announced out of the blue, last season Alastair Johnston and Oh Hyeon-gyu were trailed long before their signings were confirmed, most often news breaks from the country of origin before being picked up and shared by Celtic fan media sites.

It doesn’t say that you will hear “of” new signings, it says become the first to hear “from” new signings…
