Brazilian deal opens the door for Celtic’s move for Hyun-Jun

The transfer of Vitor Gabriel from Flamengo could have a knock-on effect on Celtic’s transfer business.

Gangwon are reported to be in advanced talks to bring the 23-year-old to the K-League which looks like freeing up Yang Hyun-Jun to join Celtic.

Hyun-Jun has been strongly linked with a move to Celtic with the fee and sell-on clause apparently agreed between the two clubs.

There is one major stumbling block with Gangwon looking to delay the deal until January or insisting on an instant loan back to allow Hyun-Jun to complete the year round K-League campaign.

Neither Celtic or the player seem to be keen on that option, rather than lose out on selling a player to Europe it seems that Gangwon have turned to Brazil to bring in a replacement before doing business for the sale of the 21-year-old winger.

Brazilian site Globo reports:

Vitor Gabriel is close to leaving Ceará . The attacker’s target must be Gangwon FC . The South Korean team made a purchase proposal, and the deal is underway. Alvinegro has not yet been informed of the negotiation, something that should happen soon. The values were not revealed.

The 23-year-old player went to Ceará on loan from Flamengo at the beginning of the 2023 season. Before arriving at Vovô, Vitor Gabriel passed through Braga (from Portugal) and Juventude, in addition to Flamengo himself. The contract with Ceará would run until the end of this season.

Announced as reinforcement for the alvinegro attack, Vitor Gabriel played 30 games, scored 11 goals for the team and provided five assists.
