Paul Parker spent all of his playing career in England but isn’t blinded by EPL arrogance.
Starting his career at Fulham in 1982 he moved on to QPR and Manchester United while picking up 19 England caps which covered the 1990 World Cup in Italy.
Ange Postecoglou, the first Australian boss in the 40 year history of the EPL, has been greeted with a mix of curiosity and contempt by English fans and the media.
Two decades of success in Australia, Japan and Scotland doesn’t quite cut it for many south of the border as the former Celtic boss attempts to go one better than Jose Mourinho, Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte by delivering a trophy to Spurs.
For some Postecoglou is badly out of his comfort zone but speaking to Bettors, Parker is confident that the new Spurs boss is well qualified for the challenges ahead:
He is walking into a job that people will say is bigger than Celtic, which is true because they don´t have as many problems as Celtic.
But Celtic is a bigger club and they are a better-supported club. Celtic is one of the best-supported clubs in the world and now he is not having that any more.
But now he will have fans behind him that are dying to win something because recent managers played as they were scared to lose even though they were supposed to be winners.
Postecoglou faces a tough couple of opening fixtures, away to Brentford then at home to Manchester United but after picking up 10 points from his first seven matches he is no stranger to uphill challenges.
