Operation Warnock- Ibrox fans call for veteran English boss to oust Beale

Ibrox fans are genuinely discussing the prospect of Neil Warnock taking over as manager from Micky Beale.

Last November the Ibrox board decided to appoint a rookie boss who had a total of 21 matches on his CV, if they opt for Warnock they will be bringing in someone who has been in management since Beale was in nappies.

Taking charge of Gainsborough Trinity in 1980, Warnock recently resigned as manager of Huddersfield Town after steering them clear of relegation from the Championship last season.

Warnock has often spoken about his fondness for all things Ibrox, with a background that is 100% Gammon he would be quite at home among the Ibrox fanbase as he tried to pick up the pieces from Beale’s disastrous 10 months in charge.

Three league defeats and a humiliating exit from the Champions League within the first two months of the season has exposed Beale as a soundbite manager and put his title as the Brains Behind Gerrard at risk.

With a contract that runs until 2026 it won’t be cheap to get rid of Beale but it will be far more costly if the Ibrox board keep him in charge with the October international break providing some breathing space for a new boss to bed in.

Previously at times like this Graeme Murty could be called in but that option is no longer there- or a credible alternative.

Some old school tactics and media performances from Warnock would soon have the Gullible & Deluded onside, how he would get on in a snowflake dressing room that includes Borna Barisic, James Tavernier and Todd Cantwell is an issue for another day.

Without setting foot in the Loudon Tavern Warnock has never been shy about flagging up his Ibrox credentials.

At the age of 74 he is unlikely to be looking for a long term contract but the lure of increased media attention and a two horse race might be enough to tempt Warnock north of the border.

Over the last decade he has gone into a number of clubs deep in trouble and sparked a reaction before his impact fizzles out and he departs the scene.

That sort of profile sounds close to what is required at Ibrox, being out of work no compensation would be required with Warnock ready to start straight away.

With the Beale chapter coming to an end in the Banter Years the arrival of Warnock and the near certainty of implosion would be a very welcome development.
