Stephen Welsh could become the first Celtic player sold by Brendan Rodgers.
Last week Odin Thiago Holm was signed in a £2.3m deal from Norwegian side Valerenga but it looks like Welsh could be heading in the opposite direction.
As well as the Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt partnership the former Scotland u-21 skipper found himself behind Moritz Jenz, Yuki Kobayashi and Tomoki Iwata at various times in the season just finished.
Welsh became a regular alongside Kris Ajer in the second half of the 20/21 season but was used very sparingly by Ange Postecoglou.

Celtic defender Stephen Welsh could be one of the first players to leave the club this summer after emerging as a target for Serie A side Hellas Verona.
His Scotland Under-21s teammate Josh Doig has impressed since leaving Hibs for Verona in a £3million deal last summer — and is now the target of a player plus-cash proposal from Lewis Ferguson’s Bologna.
Bologna are also keeping an eye on Welsh’s situation, with the 23-year- old keen to secure first-team football.
Welsh’s expected departure could have a knock on effect on Celtic’s European prospects with four club developed and four national developed players required in 26 man squads.
Callum McGregor, James Forrest and Tony Ralston would be the only first team players to have come through the ranks with Greg Taylor the only regular SFA developed player. David Turnbull, James McCarthy and Scott Bain made up that quota.
Effectively Rodgers will only be able to name 17 players outwith those categories for his Champions League squad.
