‘The club I know is gone’ ‘Absolute disgrace’ ‘A total farce’ Ibrox fans react to Jim White’s news on Phil Clement

After a frenzy of speculation and wishful thinking Ibrox fans go into another week knowing that Phil Clement remains in charge of their club. A Proper Football Manager and his exciting young team.

BaSed on absolutely nothing of substance social media was buzzing with excitement for the 6pm announcement that the Belgian Beale had left the building for the final time.

The Rangers Review, head by big Jonny McFarlane and backed up by Chris Jack were the first to burst the bubble, telling their readers that an afternoon of hope had turned into an evening of darkness.

An hour later Jim White was on board with the bad news, third in the SPFL, 11 points behind Celtic after a dozen matches and Clement remains in charge.

It was another layer of icing on a superb weekend for Celtic fans who weren’t slow to share their appreciation to the TalkSPORT presenter for sharing the good news.

At the turn of the year Mister Clement could do no wrong, Dave King feared an approach from Manchester United or Bayern Munich but when the pressure was on Clement wilted in the same time honoured fashion as the squad of losers that he had inherited from Micky Beale.

A home defeat from Motherwell at the start of March was the first unexpected set-back, when the manager went on a heart thumping lap of honour after a 3-3 draw with Celtic the alarm bells went off, Clement told the media that it was a Moral Victory.

There was time for two defeats from Celtic in May as the winners for the season cut themselves free of the losers, two weeks later it was time up for John Lundstram, Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack and Kemar Roofe as they were finally removed from the wagebill.

This season has been one disaster after another for Clement- creating hilarity across the country.

You’ll see the ‘real Rangers’ in October and November the bears were told- to be fair to Clement he has been true to his word.

With a net summer spend of £13.4m Clement has created a bang average SPFL club that is crumbling under the weight of fan and media expectations.

The three international breaks have provided breathing space for the former Monaco boss but he is now into a four month marathon of fixtures with a squad that he knows, opposition managers and players know to be well short on ability with fragile personalities.

Yesterday James Tavernier was left out entirely, there was no improvement, Tav can no longer be blamed as the source of all issues.

Every match now carries real danger to Clement- over the next 10 days he has to face Nice, Ross County and Kilmarnock. Three matches that he is capable of losing.

Mid December brings clashes with Celtic and Spurs over the course of three days.

It is unlikely that White and Graeme Souness will be discussing much about Scottish football over that period.

Am I the only one who thinks Clement is doing a fine and wonderful job.
What a guy! I hope he stays for the full length of his contract!
