Jane Lewis has sprung into action at lunchtime today with news that Norwich City have rejected an offer from Celtic to sign Adam Idah with a fee reported to be ‘around £4m to £5m’.
That is quite a range in pricing and typical of the standards at the state broadcaster where they are never slow at uncovering what is perceived as bad news for Celtic fans.
During the recent European Championships Lewis was part of the extensive BBC team led by Kenny Macintyre, Tom English, Neil McCann and Steven Thompson.
Back in February Lewis found herself in the news when she got a ‘good girl’ reply from Brendan Rodgers as she got a little too excitable predicting the demise of Celtic’s SPFL title challenge.
It took an 89th minute goal from Idah to put Celtic ahead of Motherwell, topped off by a stoppage time goal from Luis Palma.
Those goals ruined the script for BBC Scotland as they prepared the coronation of King Philippe Clement with Lewis, allegedly a Motherwell fan unable to avoid putting a series of negative questions to the victorious manager.
Rodgers has heard it all before, seeing the line of questioning he told Lewis that Celtic will write their own story of the season. And they did.

Norwich City have turned down a Celtic bid for Adam Idah understood to be around £4m to £5m.
The Republic of Ireland forward, 23, spent the second half of last season on loan with the Scottish champions, scoring nine goals in 19 appearances.
He netted the Glasgow club’s last goal of the campaign, the late winner against Rangers in the Scottish Cup final, which sealed a league and cup double.
Norwich told BBC Scotland that they are not actively trying to sell Idah and say new manager Johannes Hoff Thorup is excited to start working with him.
It seems that Lewis never asked any questions about interest in Kenny McLean from the SPFL runners-up.
Bringing a ‘lifelong’ fan of the club and a current Scottish international back into the domestic game is surely as big a story as Norwich rejecting an initial bid, something that happens all the time in negotiations.
Celtic could well still be in discussions with Norwich, they have the finances to go above the £4-5m fee quoted.
