Celtic Underground and Everything Celtic have tweeted tonight about rumours that a deal has been completed to sign Altay Bayindir.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper is currently at the European Championships with Turkey following a season in which he has only played one match for Manchester United. An FA Cup tie away to Newport County.
Bayindir moved to Old Trafford a year ago in a a £4.2m deal from Fenerbahce, ironically to replace Ibrox hero Jack Butland.
In the three weeks since Joe Hart retired from football there has been close to a goalkeeper a day linked with Celtic but with the transfer window now open there has been nothing from the club to suggest that a deal has been completed.
As it stands Scot Bain and Ben Siegrist are the two ‘keepers at the club but with two SPFL starts between them in the last two seasons it seems fairly obvious that neither is considered as first team material.
Rumour that we’ve signed Bayindir from Man U doing the rounds.

Bayindir moved to Manchester United on September 1 after four years as the first choice keeper at Fenerbahce.
With Andre Onana signed by Erik Ten Hagg the Turk was only ever going to be back up with the former Ajax boss sticking loyalty with the keeper that he had worked with in Holland.
If Bayindir is the keeper that Celtic want he won’t be moving to Glasgow until well into July with Turkey involved in the European Championships where they take on Portugal, Chechia and Georgia.
In an ideal world Celtic would have their new ‘keeper in place for the start of pre-season training and the opening friendly away to Ayr United on July 5.
Bringing in a current internationalist would be worth the wait but until there is a comment from Celtic Bayindir will just be another name on the list of Celtic linked goalkeepers.

Perhaps it has picked up, he’s never getting a look in at Man Utd. https://t.co/2RPcoeUhzA

He’s not that bad a keeper, better than Dubravka that’s for sure. The fan base has to be realistic. We’re not getting De Gea!! We have a budget and this could be the level we have to look at. Any player is a risk but he could work out for us. 🍀🍀
