The story of the 2025 Celtic AGM, chaired by Peter Lawwell, can be summed up by the images in the tweet below published by the North Curve.
One shareholder moved towards the speaking podium, raising her arm to make a point of order.
Jeanette Findlay wanted to request a vote on whether shareholders had to sit through a self congratulatory video of how brilliantly run Celtic are.
It was a valid point. Very valid, as a shareholder she was entitled to that request.
PROTOCOL
What she got in reply was the real Lawwell.
He couldn’t even act civilised for two hours of the year.
The former CEO couldn’t keep a lid on his utter contempt for anyone that doesn’t think that he is completely wonderful.
Apparently big Peter is solely responsible for every trophy won since October 2003. His multiple messengers and cheerleaders have been telling him that for years. How wonderful he is. All for a place on the news rota and the occasional crumb thrown into their grateful in-box.
While Findlay followed protocol Lawwell fell back to his base instincts. To mock and sneer anyone outside of his bubble. He raised his arm mimicking Findlay.
And with that he was planning his first hasty exit.
Four minutes into the AGM he made an adjournment. Not for five or 10 minutes but for 30 minutes, 25% of the time he had allocated to the meeting.
While knowing that he had the ace card of Ross Desmond to read out Dad’s speech to really rub shareholders noses it in.

Five or 10 minutes would have been plenty of time for an adjournment.
Findlay and the Celtic Trust tried to contact the Chairman and Company Secretary, Joanne McNairn. They were both in hiding.
CONCERNS
Clearly Lawwell had deep concerns about allowing Findlay to propose two motions from the Trust. There was no gags about Rory Bremner this year, no ‘penalty to Rangers’ quips.
The Chairman didn’t want the motion for a 3-5 year plan to be articulated. Not while knowing that the walking liability that is Michael Nicholson would have to face questions from shareholders. Many of whom are better briefed that the Celtic CEO, groomed for the job by the current Chairman.
When the meeting resumed Lawwell’s mood was worse than ever, clearly he is surrounded by blind obedience almost all of the time.
As the video started a group of around 30 shareholders walked out in silence.
HERE COMES ROSS…
When they returned Lawwell muttered about them not normally appearing at the AGM. Something he’d never say about Ross’s Daddy.
And then it was over to Ross. To deliver a full on attack on the ungrateful supporters and shareholders. The next day Ross was off to watch Tonga at Murrayfield. He couldn’t even fake enough interest to see Celtic playing St Mirren.
Lawwell was ready to pull the plug at any point during the joint Desmond speech.
The Falkirk ‘assault’ was the final straw, Chairman Lawwell wasn’t going to let the billionaire’s boy cause any more damage.
If only the club Chairman showed the same level of interest in teenage Celtic fans being bullied and attacked by club stewards, while other stewards looked on approvingly.

That kids father see’s that it’s a riot, plain and simple, also the steward should loose his license as he will know that any unprovoked physical contact with a minor is a disciplinary offence…..
