‘We hate you’ ‘He is a complete FAILURE’ ‘Get him out’ Ibrox fans crank up Martin attacks

Russell Martin poured petrol on the flames of the Ibrox support with a masterful media performance.

Any hopes that the hipster manager was about to resign in view of the unprecedented hatred pouring from the stands in his direction can be discounted.

Martin was doubling down spectacularly, everyone is more determined than ever to turn things round with spectacular success within touching distance.

Things have deteriorated so far that many bears are torn over tomorrow’s League Cup tie with Hibs, fearing that a victory will extend the tenure of a manager who was hated as soon as it became clear that he was the leading contender to replace Phil Clement.

That hatred was down to his lifestyle choices and politics, now the baying mob have results on the park to throw at Martin who has won just three of 12 matches since taking charge.

After five SPFL matches the Ibrox club have only picked up four points, they could well start their next match in bottom place in the table.

The Champions League dream ended in a 9-1 humiliation from Club Brugge, the last win was a laboured 4-2 at home to Alloa in the League Cup.

Martin laid it on thick at today’s media conference, throwing in personal details about himself and his daughter in an attempt to gain some sympathy.

There will be no sympathy on Edmiston Drive at 4.30pm tomorrow as thousands of angry bears make their voices heard.

After being panned all week in the media in a bid to whip up additional resentment Martin face the media this morning and smirked his way through most of the questioning.

Oozing insincerity Martin said:

We’re working so hard to try and give the supporters what they want – a team that wins and wins a lot and does it in a certain way.

So I’m as frustrated and more frustrated than anyone because we’re the guys that are in charge of that and with the results and some of the performance it’s been really frustrating, really difficult.

And then being in here and listening to someone tell me the team doesn’t look like it’s coached is difficult because I think the one thing that we’ve always said for any of our teams, is they have a certain way of doing things.

Whether you believe in it or you like it or not, they definitely look a certain way which takes a lot of time on the training pitch.

So we’ll get there with this team. The fans’ protest and stuff I can’t control at all.

I have to respect it, I have to understand their frustration and their annoyance but I feel every bit of it as well.

But I do think it’s an amazing opportunity for us as a team to come through this period and grow through it and to be so strong from it.

Hopefully at that point then everyone will come together and we’ll just need to win football matches.

Stringing together cliches and buzzwords isn’t going to go down well with the bears determined to drive Martin out as the replies on the club’s Twitter account confirm.

See Rodgers nailed bawbag barry to wall, questioning his morals AND pointing out that when bazza was in charge he didn’t have the answers either, read Rodgers comments if you get a chance, never heard a Celtic manager attack a hun manager with such vitriol, well said Brendan, every word true
