It is fair to say that Paddy Stewart has had better weeks.
Even overseeing the downfall of Manchester United over the last decade must seem like a barrel of laughs compared to the remit that he has taken on at Ibrox.
According to a club statement following the 1-1 draw with Celtic a Tifo displayed in the Copeland Stand crossed a line, the reaction to that statement suggests that it is the club and ultimately their CEO that crossed a line.
When you are dealing with angry, insecure bears there is no way back for their CEO.
Stewart, from Aberdeen with a dubious first name is most certainly not a bear. He doesn’t get it no matter how much comforting corporate-speak he releases in his in-house interviews.
The main part of Sunday’s statement released to media messengers covered another glass bottle being thrown on the pitch, the statement contained all the usual phrases, it is a regular thing when Celtic visit Ibrox.
The statement also criticised the pre-match Tifo which was about the only thing to cheer up the Ibrox fans on another day of humiliation.
When 2,000 away fans steal your club anthem, the song that the players walk out the tunnel to it is best to be aware of how sensitive feelings are.
Over the last six months Celtic have trashed the claim of being The World’s Most Successful Club and kicked #title55 into touch.
When the rebel scum then erupt into singing Simply The Best it is time for the CEO and his Communications team to be careful of the egg-shells they are navigating.
Stewart’s message and the follow up hasn’t gone down well, the comment below on a message board sums things up, especially having over 50 likes.
It might be Chinese whispers but in the absence of FACTS! many Ibrox fans are convinced that Stewart didn’t recognise that the tifo was based on a little known image of Graeme Souness.
The grapevine is suggesting that he thought it was a well known loyalist murderer and that an apology was made to the Celtic directors.
There is nothing to suggest that either of those claims are true but when your superiority complex has been destroyed over the last 13 years paranoia runs rife.
Among the mildest criticisms aimed at Stewart is the claim that he is a Woke wet-wipe, other stronger language is in use.
Stewart of course got off to the worse possible start, delaying his official appointment until December 16 to avoid the League Cup Final.
On day 1 Ibrox fans demanded a blazing statement demolishing the SFA, Willie Collum, Alan Muir and Francis Connor.
Nothing of substance was said from Ibrox, no action was taken although Muir has since been removed from VAR duties although not for the reasons demanded by the Ibrox support.
Incredibly it seems that outrage over Sunday’s Tifo dominated the quarterly meeting with the Fan Advisory Board which is supposed to provide two way contact between supporters and the club Executive.
Losses heading for £25m, no manager, no home wins in seven matches and the slow moving ‘takeover’ were all pushed aside to focus on the Tifo.
There are two home matches coming up over the next week, it wouldn’t be a shock if the anger of the Union Bears was diverted from the rebel scum to the enemy within, sitting in the prime seats in the Directors Box.
All of which will provide the American Consortium with food for thought if they are thinking of sanitising the most toxic club and support in world football.
