Daily Record starts the campaign to ditch Clement

It’s not often that Nordin Jbari creates headlines, until today he was virtually unknown to readers of the Daily Record.

He does have now have a special function though as boredom sets in with the Clement Revolution with a change of script required at Ibrox.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Micky Beale collected lucrative pay-offs for failing at Ibrox, if Anderlecht could tempt Clement back to Belgium it would cut out the need for a pay off and allow the Record to drool about the compensation fee picked up for A Proper Football Manager. Much like the fees received for James Bisgrove and Malik Tillman.

As Steven Naismith discovered at the weekend signing a new contract means very little when fans turn on you on the back of results.

Over the next fortnight Clement’s ‘exciting young team’ faces Malmo, Hibs and Lyon which should pose more of a test than back to back matches against Dundee United and Dundee.

The match against Hibs should take care of itself but opening the Europa League group with two defeats would be hard to shake off with Manchester United and Spurs to be faced before Christmas.

Rather than a problem linger on the departure of Clement would solve a problem with the Daily Record reporting:

Rangers boss Philippe Clement should be targeted by Anderlecht as they search for a new manager, according to former Belgium international Nordin Jbari.

The Brussels club are looking for a new boss after sacking Danish coach Brian Riemer last week following a disappointing start to the season. Reports in Belgium have linked Clement to the role and he’s been named as one of the favourites, alongside former Antwerp boss Mark van Bommel who left the club in the summer.

Clement – who only signed a contract extension at Rangers in August to remain at Ibrox Stadium until 2028 – both played for and managed Anderlecht’s rivals Club Brugge during his career which could be viewed as a problem by their fans. However, ex-Anderlecht and Belgium striker Jbari turned TV pundit reckons that shouldn’t be a barrier to Anderlecht approaching Rangers.

He said: “Philippe Clement likes to play modern, attacking football. He would be a very interesting option, even though he used to play for and manage Club Brugge. There’s obviously a financial aspect to it too because he’s at Rangers and whether he would even consider a move to Anderlecht. But he’s definitely an option for Anderlecht alongside van Bommel.”

It’s been years or decades since anyone was watching modern, attacking football at Ibrox, it has never been seen under Clement even during the glorious spell at the turn of the year when a Quadruple was opening up.

During the summer there was speculation in Scotland that Clement could take over as manager of the Belgian national side which predictably came to nothing.

Should A Proper Football Manager move on from Ibrox Derek McInnes would be the favourite to take over with Alex Rae and Barry Ferguson as dark horses for the job.

Jbari had a journeyman career as a footballer, a sort of Belgian Steven Thompson without the charisma.

Desperate stuff to soothe their elderly Hun readership and create the impression that he’s a manger in demand and that their board and corporate management leadership (what little is left of it) knows what it’s doing. So rather than being the latest manager to fail miserably at the Asbestos Arena, who it will cost millions to get rid of, he’s actually a tactical genius that top Belgian clubs, with Champions’ League credentials are keen to employ and will be happy to pay Rangers a handsome sum for his services. So that contract extension was an act of business genius – not stupidity. Only this is based on nothing more than a speculative, off-the-cuff remark by a pundit, so it’s basically as likely to happen as the previous bollox about him being the next Belgium national team manager. And this is what passes for journalism these days!

I hope he goes for a coupla reasons. 1) It would create even MORE chaos in Govan and 2) the “staunch” may well put pressure on for a RRM and ‘hail’ Mastermind/Brain of Briton/EBT Ferguson into Ibrox.
Without a shadow of doubt the dumbest, scummest fans on the planet. Oh, please…………
