It will go down as one of the most drawn out transfers in history but it seems that Adam Idah’s move to Celtic from Norwich is in the final stages.
Both clubs have been playing hardball and postulating over the deal but after going through all of the motions it appears that the move is close to being concluded.
Pendy12 from Kerrydale Street has a more than decent track record on Celtic business and is expecting a deal of between £6-7m plus the now inevitable add-ons to be ironed out.
Interestingly it is suggested that Idah has played a blinder in what has often been a close season pantomime.
It seems that the critical stage was when Idah ‘missed’ the Norwich flight to Austria where he was sidelined for the 2-2 draw with Hoffenheim on July 30.
Idah made it onto the next flight out, it was an issue that new manager Johannes Hoff Thorup could have kept in house with a ‘slight knock’ but he chose to go public with the missed flight story to explain Idah missing out on the Hoffenheim match.
That was followed by some Norwich fans booing Idah when he appeared as a substitute in the home friendly against St Pauli with the next, and possibly final stage coming on Saturday when Norwich start their Championship campaign away to Oxford.
Thorup will have to decide whether he can risk using a striker that could be worth more than £6m to his club with a speedy conclusion now in the interests of all parties.
Celtic have also been playing a dangerous game with no real interest reported in other strikers.
An injury to Kyogo Furuhashi would play straight into Norwich’s hand through an increased fee but as Pendy12 suggests the saga that has been running since May 25 at Hampden seems close to a green and white conclusion.
