Ben McPherson is reported to be a loan target for Queens Park.
The defender featured heavily in Celtic’s pre-season matches in Japan and against Wolves but is unlikely to be involved in the first team in the season ahead.
Tony Ralston returned to action against Athletic Bilbao then started the SPFL opener at home to Ross County.
With Alistair Johnston back training on grass Brendan Rodgers should soon have two experienced players competing and covering the right-back position which would allow McPherson to get out on loan.

Queen’s Park are closing in on a loan for Celtic youngster Ben McPherson
The young right-back is set to join the Spiders. The Scotland under-21 cap had the chance to move to Admira Wacker on-loan but has decided to remain in Scotland.
The 19-year-old is set to be given first-team action in the Championship. McPherson has just come back from Celtic’s first-team tour of Japan and is keen to kick on. The deal could be done ahead of Queen’s weekend clash with Arbroath.
Johnny Kenny had an unsuccessful loan at Queens Park cut short last season but playing in defence should give McPherson a better chance to settle in.
Back in the first half of the 2015/16 season Ralston had a very successful spell on loan at Queens Park which accelerated his development.
After being a regular in the Lowland League last season stepping up to play in the Championship is essential for McPherson’s game to kick on.
Lesser Hampden has been renamed the City Stadium and will be reopened on Saturday with the visit of Arbroath after the Spiders spent a few seasons on the road groundsharing with Partick Thistle and Queens Park.
No expense has been spared on the pitch which will come as a welcome change for McPherson who spent most of last season on a variety of plastic pitches in the Lowland League.
