Scott Brown wants Celtic kid on loan at Fleetwood

Scott Brown is reported to be keen to take Adam Montgomery on loan to Fleetwood Town.

The defender turns 21 next month and will be looking to build on a successful loan stint at St Johnstone which covered 26 SPFL matches, a change in manager and successful battle against relegation.

While making progress on his career Montgomery still looks to have a bit to go before he could be challenging for a place at Celtic although he did play a significant role in the first half of Ange Postecoglou’s debut season.

Getting regular football in League One against clubs like Derby County, Bolton, , Blackpool, Charlton and Portsmouth would appear to be an enticing option with the added dimension of working under a former Celtic skipper.

At 10.35am in their Transfer Blog the Daily Record reported:

Fleetwood boss Scott Brown is hoping for an early favour from incoming Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers – as he wants to sign Adam Montgomery on-loan.

The former Hoops skipper is a big fan of the left-back and has been a long-term target.

Montgomery has just come back from a successful loan with St Johnstone.

Saints would be interested in taking him back again for next season although there are several Scottish Premier League clubs who would also be keen if he was available.

Montgomery previously worked under Brown when he was assistant manager at Aberdeen.

Brown may have to wait until he assesses his Celtic squad before he makes a decision on the 20-year-old.

Celtic currently have Greg Taylor and Alexandro Bernabei are the two players who have been blocking Montgomery’s first-team path.

In January Brown signed Scott Robertson from Celtic with the midfielder playing in 12 matches in League One.

Getting the right loan move for players is a difficult task but with Brown in charge of Fleetwood and knowing Montgomery’s strengths it would seem a logical move for all to rubber stamp a season long loan.
